When it comes to menopause and ADHD, an article published in The Conversation in August 2023, states that “Women and girls with ADHD have been neglected for too long. Learning more about how hormones impact ADHD symptoms in women and girls with ADHD is an urgent research need.
Such work could lead to clinical guidelines about altering medications for ADHD as hormones fluctuate, specific hormone treatments for girls and women with ADHD, and how women with ADHD can best be supported.”
Anecdotally women report their ADHD symptoms can worsen during perimenopause and menopause.
